Q & A

Q: Why is Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) listed in our all-natural ingredients?

A: Lye is a key component in all traditional soap making. The end product does not contain Lye. During saponification, lye reacts with oils and fats to produce soap and glycerin. Once this chemical reaction is complete, lye is fully neutralized and no longer present in the finished product. Our soaps are safe, gentle, and made with care using time-honored methods.

Q: How long does it take to make and cure a bar of cold processed soap?

A: Cold process soap requires patience and care. After mixing and pouring, the soap cures in molds for 24–48 hours before cutting into bars. The bars then cure for 4–6 weeks, allowing moisture to evaporate and the soap to harden fully. This extended curing time creates a longer-lasting, milder bar that's gentle on skin.

Q: Are natural handmade soaps worth buying?

A: Handmade soaps offer real benefits. They're made with quality ingredients you can pronounce, free from synthetic chemicals and harsh additives. Natural soaps are gentler on sensitive skin, often contain nourishing oils and butters, and produce a creamy lather. Plus, supporting artisan makers means you're investing in small-batch craftsmanship and sustainable practices.
